Mount Umunhum is a peak in the Santa Cruz Mountains that rises to an elevation of 3,489 feet. This impressive mountain is found in Santa Clara County, with most of its area being part of the Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve. Its imposing presence is due to the Coast Range Ophiolite formation that lies underneath, giving Mount Umunhum its remarkable stature. Formerly used for radar surveillance during the Cold War, it was recently opened to the public and boasts some breathtaking views of the Bay Area from the summit. Hikers can explore the summit's facilities, including restrooms, interpretive displays, and a small parking lot. This amazing natural wonder is a fun destination for anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors!
