One of the best stops between Vik and Jukulsarlon, Fosshotel Nupar is the nicest hotel in the area. It's a lovely modern-designed hotel set against a dramatic backdrop of lava fields and glaciers.

We thought this place was perfectly situated for exploring the wonders of South Iceland, and its remote location offers a spectacular, light-pollution-free stage for the Northern Lights in winter. It's the ideal stop on a Ring Road road trip, or a trip along the south coast, as it puts you in the perfect position to explore Vatnajokull the following day or continue on to Vik, depending on which direction you're going in.

The hotel itself is very comfortable with comfortable beds, panoramic windows, allowing you to soak in the landscapes right from your room, and a lovely on-site restaurant, which serves delicious local Icelandic dishes.
