Monfero Abbey, also known as the Monastery of Santa MarĂa de Monfero, is a former Cistercian monastery in Galicia, Spain đïž. Founded in 1114 by Afonso VII the Emperor đ, it was rebuilt in the Baroque style in the 17th century after being struck by lightning âĄ. The abbey's church, with its distinctive Baroque facade and Gothic tombs âȘ, still stands today as a landmark in Monfero đł. Unfortunately, the government's dissolution of the monasteries in 1835 brought an end to its religious activities đ.
