Ingjaldshólskirkja is a historic church on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in West-Iceland. It served as a large congregation and was once the third largest church in Iceland. The church is known for its ties to the noted Eggert Ólafsson and his wife Ingibjörg Guðmundsdóttir, whose monument stands behind the church. The couple tragically drowned in 1798 after setting out on their final voyage from Skor at Rauðasandur. The church is also famous for potentially hosting Christopher Columbus during the winter of 1477-78, seeking information about Viking voyages before embarking on his own journey west.
