historique

In the 1600s and 1700s, this area was the centre of early European colonization and settlement, including trade with native peoples. The fort was built (and rebuilt) over centuries first erected by the Scots, then the French and eventually taken over and re-built by the British. It's a quick visit, but a great (and affordable) stop for history buffs.
