It is the oldest church in Val Gardena and at the same time also the one at the highest altitude: the church of St. James is located above Ortisei, near the village of St. James, and can only be reached on foot. The church is also consecrated to the patron saint of hikers and pilgrims, precisely St. James.

Drive up to San Giacomo from Ortisei center and park your car once you arrive at the top. From there it is about a 20-30 minute walk. You can also start the hike from Ortisei town, this will take you about an hour in total.
