Standley Chasm is a breathtaking geological formation located in West MacDonnell National Park, just outside of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, Australia. It was formerly known as Gall Springs and is named after Ida Standley, the first school teacher in Alice Springs. The chasm is owned by the Iwupataka Land Trust and is an important spiritual site for the Western Arrernte Aboriginal people who call it Angkerle Atwatye, which means 'Gap of Water'. Around noon everyday, the sun aligns directly over the chasm creating a captivating display of light that draws visitors from all around the world to marvel at the ethereal beauty of Standley Chasm.
