Nukus is a city in Uzbekistan, known for its Nukus Museum of Art and State Museum. It started as a small settlement in 1932 and grew into a modern Soviet city by the 1950s. The city's isolation made it a host for the Red Army's Chemical Research Institute, which was dismantled in 2002. Nukus experiences a cold desert climate with hot summers and cold winters. The population of Nukus was around 329,100 as of January 2022.
