Schlick 2000: The "Dolomites" of the Stubai Valley

Located in Fulpmes, this resort is famous for the massive, razor-sharp limestone walls of the Kalkkögel that rise vertically right in front of you. In winter, it is a spectacular ski resort where you carve literally "in the face" of these aggressive peaks. In summer, it transforms into a paradise for families and mountain photographers.

Javi’s Insider Tips:

The Cable Car Stages:

Middle Station (Froneben): Do not skip this. It’s the heart of the fun for kids, featuring the Baumhausweg (Treehouse Trail), full of interactive play stations. This area is also where you’ll find plenty of roaming cows grazing. They are usually very calm, but always keep a respectful distance.

Top Station (Kreuzjoch): This is where the views get intense. Visit the "StubaiBlick" panoramic platform for a 360-degree view that will leave you speechless.

The Panorama Lake (Panoramasee): Located about a 30-45 minute walk from the middle station. Pro tip: This lake is used for snow-making in winter, so it is often dry in early spring. It typically starts filling with water in June. When full, the reflection of the jagged peaks in the water is the ultimate photo spot.

Family Fun: If you are traveling with children, rent a wooden disc at the top station for the "Scheibenweg." Kids roll the disc down a track along the trail, which is the perfect trick to keep them walking without complaining!

Food: The area is dotted with huts. The Schlickeralm near the lake is a classic for traditional food, or you can find a quiet spot in the meadows for a picnic.

Access & Logistics:

Public Transport: Take Bus 590 from Innsbruck.

In Summer: The bus drops you in the village, and you will have to walk a short distance to reach the cable car base station.

In Winter (Skiing): If you are visiting to ski, there is a dedicated Ski Bus that picks you up from Fulpmes Ortsmitte and takes you directly to the lift.

Innsbruck Card: The cable car ride (ascent and descent) is 100% included for free with your card.

Travel Time: It takes about 30-40 minutes from Innsbruck to Fulpmes. Plan for a half-day (4-5 hours) to explore the trails and the summit.
