Chasing the Perfect Sunset in Malta

Valletta

You can enjoy some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets in Valletta. Especially along the harbor and on the city’s cool rooftops. I highly recommend the rooftop bar and restaurant of the Embassy Hotel Valletta. From here, you can definitely enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in the city.

Dwejra Bay

On the island of Gozo, in the far west of the island, there’s a very beautiful spot for a sunset. Here you’ll find several attractions. Among them are the unfortunately collapsed Azure Window, the Blue Hole, and the Inland Sea. Here you can relax on the cliffs along the coast, sip a delicious drink, and marvel at the beautiful sunset.

Xwejni Rock

Directly opposite the Gozo Salt Pans is Xwejni Rock. Beneath the rock is a cute little sandstone cave with stunning views of the sea and the coast. Grab a cool drink and a snack, such as a delicious pizza from the restaurant next door, and enjoy a wonderful evening here.

Dingli Cliffs

The Dingli Cliffs are located near the town of Dingli on Malta’s west coast at an altitude of over 250 meters. They are a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, where, with a bit of luck, they can experience a romantic sunset.

Tal Mixta Cave

A very beautiful place with spectacular views of Ramla Bay. The Tal Mixta Cave is located above the beach on Gozo and can be reached on foot or by car (plus a 5-minute walk). A very cool and unique place with stunning views.

St. Paul's Bay (San Pawl il-Baħar)

St. Paul’s Bay is one of Malta’s largest cities. It’s a popular spot for partygoers and night owls. But this Mediterranean city also offers cool beach clubs, good restaurants, a cute little harbor, and, of course, a usually beautiful sunset. The best places to watch this are directly on the coast or at one of the many good restaurants on the waterfront or in the city.

Qarraba Bay

Qarraba Bay is generally a very beautiful place in Malta. Along with Golden Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa, and Gnejna Bay, this region is a very popular excursion destination in the west of the island. From here, you can also watch the sunset anywhere along the coast. The viewpoint on Il-Qarraba is a very popular spot here. Highly recommended.
