Before Your Trip:

1. Book Car Rental 3+ Months Ahead

  • Limited inventory, books fast

  • Essential for road trips and accessing trailheads

2. Plan Accommodation Early

  • Limited options in remote areas

  • Check Airbnbs or bring camping gear/tent

  • Car camping could be an option (it's pretty easy to find spots to park your car for the night where you won't bother anyone, and no one will bother you)

3. Download Offline Maps

  • Spotty internet in many areas

4. Join Facebook Groups for Wildlife Sightings

  • Search "Iceberg Newfoundland" or "Whale Spotting Newfoundland"

  • Get real-time updates from locals on current sightings

During Your Trip:

5. Layer Your Clothing

  • Weather changes rapidly (south wind = warm, Greenland wind = cold)

  • 3 layers: base layer, fleece/sweater, waterproof jacket (please, don't forget this one piece!)

6. Gas Up Frequently & Pack Snacks

  • Stations far apart in remote regions

  • Limited food options on long stretches

7. Build in Flexibility

  • Weather can change plans quickly

  • Leave room for spontaneous stops or be prepared to skip something (I've made it easier for you by listing must-see and optional places)
