This is one of the less famous and overrun spots in Appenzell but definitely the perfect starting point for your adventures.

You can easily get up to Staubern from the valley with the cable car. From there (always check beforehand the weather conditions) you can walk towards Hoher Kasten and enjoy beautiful panorama or hike towards the Saxerlücke.

Photography tip: just walk towards Hoher Kasten (ca. 30 min) and turn back: You'll get the majestic Staubern view for some cool shots. Also, take some nuts with you and maybe some hungry birds will surprise you with more fantastic shots
