Hvitserkur, also known as the Troll of Northwest Iceland, is a 49-foot-tall basalt rock stack that juts out from Húnaflói Bay. It's a popular spot for birdwatching, with seagulls, shags, and fulmars making it their nesting ground. Legend has it that Hvítserkur was once a troll turned to stone by the rising sun while trying to tear down bells from a convent. Whether you believe the folklore or the scientific explanation of erosion shaping the rock, one thing's for sure - Hvítserkur is a unique and fascinating sight to behold on the Vatnsnes Peninsula.
