Blue Pools Walk is an easy and beautiful forest track of around 3.2 km out and back. The path takes you through native beech forest and across a swing bridge before reaching the bright blue glacier-fed pools.

The water is unbelievably clear with vibrant turquoise tones that almost don’t look real. It’s mostly flat and suitable for most fitness levels, making it a great stop along the drive.

One important thing, though, is that this is where we had the worst sand flies problem, so make sure you put on plenty of insect repellent before you go. Trust me, you’ll need it.
