An ancient city and the historic cultural heart of Oman. It features a 17th-century fort and a beautiful souq, known for its silverware and pottery. It's a place you can't really miss - you’ll find Nizwa pretty much on every Oman itinerary. And for good reason!
NOTE: Every Friday around 7:00 AM, Nizwa hosts a traditional livestock market where goats are auctioned in a lively circular arena. I wasn’t there on a Friday so couldn’t experience it myself, but it’s considered one of the most authentic cultural experiences in Oman. If your timing allows, it may be worth adjusting your schedule to witness it.
