The Citadel of Qaitbay is a 15th-century fortress located in Alexandria, Egypt, built by Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qa'it Bay. Originally constructed on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, it served as a defensive stronghold against threats from the Mediterranean. Over the years, the Citadel underwent various renovations and restorations, with notable attention from rulers like Muhammad Ali Pasha. Despite facing damage during conflicts like the Orabi Revolt and neglect over time, the Citadel was eventually restored and repurposed as a Maritime Museum in the 20th century, showcasing its historical significance and architectural beauty.
