Fletcher Bay is located at the tip of the Coromandel Peninsula and is one of my favourite campsites in New Zealand. You'll be sleeping next to the beach, surrounded by rolling hills and epic coastal views. Is there anything better than waking up to the sound of the ocean?
It’s the perfect place to go swimming, boating, diving, or fishing. Plus, it's the starting point for the Coromandel Coastal Walkway, one of the most breathtaking day hikes on the North Island, offering unbeatable views of the Coromandel Peninsula.
Location: The closest “big” town to Fletcher Bay is Coromandel Town, 1.5 hours away.
Facilities: As it’s a DOC campsite, the facilities are super basic. They have long-drop toilets and running water but no heating, phone reception or power - just good old-fashioned off-the-grid camping.
Cost: $15 per person, and it can get super busy in summer, so I’d highly recommend booking in advance if you're visiting during peak season!
