Sointula is the main village on Malcolm Island and home to just less than 600 full-time residents. Originally established as a utopian colony in the early 1900s, the community's name means 'harmony' in Finnish.
With this in mind, Sointula is home to Canada’s oldest continuously operating co-op. The Sointula Co-op Store, which opened in 1909, is definitely worth a visit.
Other attractions in Sointula include art galleries and a museum. Beautiful views can be found all over the island!
