đ° Tips to Save Money on This Itinerary
It doesn't have to cost a million dollars!

Switzerland
Switzerland has a reputation for being expensiveâbut there are plenty of ways to keep costs down while still doing all the epic adventures. Hereâs what worked best for us on this route:
Get the Swiss Half Fare Travel Card for the Adults, giving you free child passes!
For this itinerary, the best travel card you can get is the Swiss Half Fare Card
It gives you 50% discounts on public transportation in over 90 cities
You only have to purchase it for the adults in your group, as it gives free travel for kids up to age 16! This is a HUGE savings.
The pass is valid for 1 month, unlike other passes which need to be used for 3-8 consecutive days!
Choose a Car for Families of 4+
For this itinerary, a rental car is usually cheaper than multiple Swiss Travel Passes. Parking + gas is still less than train tickets for 5â6 people, and it saves time with kids.
If youâre a smaller family, the Swiss Half Fare Card is a better value.
Mix Paid Adventures with Free Playgrounds
Big-ticket days (like Grindelwald First, Rothorn Bahn, or Cardada gondola) can add up. Balance these with free daysâlakeside beaches, alpine playgrounds, village walks, and waterfalls are just as magical.
Use Grocery Stores for Meals
Coop & Migros are lifesaversâready-made sandwiches, pasta salads, and rotisserie chicken are way cheaper than eating out.
Stock up before gondola days so you donât get stuck paying high prices at mountaintop restaurants.
We would eat our free hotel breakfast, eat grocery snacks or easy meals for lunch, then eat out for dinner.
Pack Snacks & Water Bottles
Some restaurants close mid-afternoon, and kids always get hungry at the worst times. Refill water bottles at free mountain fountains instead of buying drinks.
đ With a mix of smart passes, grocery meals, and free adventures, this trip doesnât have to break the bank. Itâs about knowing when to splurgeâand when Switzerland is just as magical for free.
