Blenheim Palace is most famous for being the birthplace of Winston Churchill. You can even see a lock of his hair from when he was 5 years old. It's one of our family's favorites! We love to visit not just for the amazing palace, but the adventure playground, gardens and free walking trails.
The palace, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, was constructed as a reward for John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, following his military victories. Learning the story of how the palace was designed, funded and built was my favorite part of the self guided tour inside. The palace now serves as a family home, mausoleum, and national monument.
