Lake Erskine, located in the back country of Fiordland, is a stunning alpine lake surrounded by the mountains of Fiordland National Park. With crystal clear waters reflecting snowy mountains and a rocky platform offering wilderness views, it's a picture-perfect landscape photo especially during the later afternoon close to sunset.

Accessible only by helicopter, we used Heliworks who are located in Queenstown and offer package deals which include Lake Erskine and other amazing photo locations in Fiordland.

Photo info: Although this location is incredible at any time of day, I would suggest trying to get there during golden hour at sunset. Take your wide angle (16-35mm or similar) and zoom lens (70-200mm or similar) to make the most of all the views you will encounter. Keep a shutter speed of at least 1/500 or higher due to the movement of the helicopter.
