Praia da Garajau almost feels like a hidden gem as it's not the easiest to access, but it's super cool and definitely worth a visit! 😍
To get to the beach, you can either walk on the road (not fully accessible by car + it's steep and long), or you can take the better option: the cable car!
We think it's so cool that you can get to this beach by cable car, and it actually only costs €3 (as of 2025).
It’s a fun and memorable way to access the beach, and a good example of Madeira’s network of cable cars. Another famous one is the one at Achadas da Cruz 🚡
The beach is also well-known for snorkelling, with crystal-clear water and abundant marine life since this is a marine reserve (Garajau Natural Reserve). A fun experience to do here is this kayaking and snorkelling trip 🐟🐠🐡
It's also great for scuba diving! We haven't gone yet, but my best friend and cousin tried it here and they both loved it 🤿
When you’re ready for a break, there’s a small restaurant right by the beach where you can enjoy a meal while taking in the views of the ocean 🌊
