A tremendous selection of second-hand vinyl is packed into the four walls of A-1, making it a must visit vinyl den. The stock is well curated with a wide variety of music genres, given equal priority to each style of music, attracting music lovers from all generations.

The store was opened by the established record dealer Isaac Kosman in 1996 and has been a central feature in the East Village for more than 20 years. The shop has grown over that period and is now a full-blown vinyl treasure trove, with the tiny store crammed with thousands upon thousands of records.

Take your time to flip through their crates and get down on your hands and knees to find un-named boxes hidden beneath their racks, here you’ll find some of the great gems this store has to offer including a small but impressive punk section. The sidewalk outside the store is covered in bargain bins where you can also find some great buys if you take the time to dive in.

There’s a really warm fuzzy feeling flowing through the store, with records playing on the turntable and their homely diy-vibe, with famous record sleeves plastered across the walls and ceiling. There are multiple listening stations dotted around so you can also check out the vinyl condition before you buy.

New stock arrives daily, which gives you a great excuse to pop in regularly and become an A-1 local. It’s a place of nostalgia where you can happily hangout for hours rooting through their vinyl archives of yesteryear whilst reliving some truly memorable musical moments.
