Hótel Egilsen
The old stark red house stands by the harbor in Stykkishólmur, a small fishing town by the beautiful Breiðafjörður with it´s numerous islands. The house was originally built in 1867 by a prominent businessman as a private residence but was renovated and opened as a family run boutique hotel in 2012. The small hotel preserves its classic heritage while enhancing it with the best of modern design where the guest lounge is the heart of the hotel. There, our guests can relax with a drink, mingle with locals and other guests or browse through the small library. At our doorsteps are the towns three museums, it´s restaurants and galleries as well as the harbour.
Hótel Egilsen is a cozy, quaint hotel in the harbor-side town of Stykkishólmur. Guests will be greeted at check-in with friendly service and treated to delicious organic egg breakfasts every morning. Nestled in an 1860s building, the rooms are equipped with luxurious beds, power showers, iPod docking stations, and Atlantic Ocean views. With its convenient location, Baldur Ferry Terminal and boats to the West Fjords and Flatey Island are all within walking distance. Further exploration outside of Stykkishólmur is easy to do thanks to the hotel's close proximity to Snæfellsjökull National Park, which lies approximately 46 miles away. Further still, guests can enjoy some leisurely time at Sundlaug Stykkishólms, a public pool accessible within 5 minutes' drive from Hótel Egilsen.
