Originally designated as a bird sanctuary in 1938, it was upgraded to a national park in 2015. The park boasts diverse flora and fauna, including mangrove swamps, dry zone flora, and a variety of bird species like godwits, storks, and sandpipers. Visitors may also spot mammals like leopards and deer, as well as crocodiles.
