The Seealpsee

This lake is a true swiss gem! Sadly it's not a secret anymore and the lake tends to get crowded - especially on weekends. We visited Seealpsee in the early morning and before 12 o'clock it's totally fine with the amount of people. Afterwards... I had to say I was a bit shocked by how crowded it got, as you rarerly see that with places in Switzerland. So if you want to experience it's full beauty, better be there early!

How to get there:

There are multiple ways how you can get to the lake:

1. The direct route (fastest way): From Wasserauen, it takes about 50–60 minutes uphill on a steep, partly paved road.

2. Hike via Hüttentobel: A more scenic, slightly longer route leads through the forest and along the mountain stream to Alp Waldhütte and then on to the lake.

3. Via Ebenalp/Äscher (experience route): Take the cable car up to Ebenalp, then pass by Wildkirchli and the famous mountain inn Äscher, descending to Lake Seealp in about 1.5 to 2 hours.
   

I highly recommend taking path 3 to get there and go back to the car via 1 or 2. This way you also get to see the famous Äscher mountain Inn.

Activities:

At the lake, you can swim in there, rent a small boat, use one of the grill places or just relax by the lake. There is also a restaurant by the lake (well actually two) we went to the Berggasthaus Seealpsee.
