Duntrune Castle is a majestic 13th century castle located on the north side of Loch Crinan in Argyll, Scotland.

Believed to be Scotland's oldest continuously occupied castle (yes you can stay here too!), it was originally built by the MacDougall Clan sometime during the 13th century.

It has also made a few pop culture appearances as the gateposts of Skyfall Lodge from the James Bond film of the same name were modelled after those found here.

Good to know: The castle is on a private estate, but you can drive up to see from the outside and they are happy to offer short tours for interested parties if you contact in advance. You can even stay in the cottages beside the castle (check the link we've provided).
