Getting Around Peru

Peru has a solid network of transportation options. For long-distance travel between cities, overnight buses from companies like Cruz del Sur, Peru Hop, or Oltursa are safe, comfortable, and offer luxury-class seats that recline into beds. Domestic flights are also efficient and inexpensive for longer routes like Lima to Cusco or Lima to Arequipa—use airlines like LATAM, SKY, or JetSmart.
Within cities, ride-share apps (Uber, Cabify, InDrive) are your safest bet. Public buses are cheap but confusing for first-time visitors. Mototaxis (tuk-tuks) are common in smaller towns—just agree on a price before hopping in.
When you arrive at the airport, A TON of people will hound you. We highly recommend using Taxidatum to reserve your taxis- they were SUPER accurate, on time, polite, and easy to use. They don't speak English but not many do for Uber either!
