The Guan Yu Shrine, which is located in Khwaeng Somdet Chao Phraya, Khet Khlong San, Bangkok's Thonburi side, is a historic shrine of Lord Guan, Martial God of Loyalty and Righteousness in Chinese beliefs. With a long history stretching back to the late Ayutthaya period in the reign of King Borommakot (corresponding to the reign of Qianlong Emperor of Qing Dynasty), this shrine is considered to be the oldest Guan Yu shrine in Thailand. Inside this tranquil haven of spiritual culture stands three statues of Guan Yu, two of which were brought in during the reigns of King Phutthayotfa Chulalok and King Phutthaloetla Naphalai respectively. Not to mention, such ancient beauty is underscored by the Princess Mother Memorial Park and Thang Nguan Hah Vintage House – a vintage house in Chinese architecture situated nearby. Visitors looking to gain a wider appreciation of Chinese history should not miss out on this cultural melting pot!
