Kawaguchi Asama Shrine is an ancient shrine located in Fujikawaguchiko-machi, in Minamitsuru-gun of Yamanashi Prefecture. It is one of approximately 1,300 Asama shrines in Japan dedicated to the goddess of volcanoes and Mount Fuji in particular. Here, visitors can enjoy a stunning cedar avenue, as well as seven sacred cedars which are deified and thought to be 1,200 years old. Other interesting attractions include two festivals taking place on April 25th and July 28th respectively––featuring a special ritual dance to appease the volcano goddess and prevent any future eruptions or earthquakes! Whether it's discovering the history behind this mysterious daunting mountain, wonderous views of Fuji Five lakes, or enjoying a traditional festival performance, Kawaguchi Asama Shrine is certainly a must-visit for explorers of all ages.
