In Austria, public holidays can significantly affect opening hours, public transport schedules and restaurant availability — especially outside major cities. On many holidays, supermarkets and smaller shops remain closed, while tourist areas and restaurants may operate with reduced hours. Planning ahead is highly recommended, particularly for grocery shopping, dining reservations, and travel days.
