Austria
Austria has four distinct seasons, each offering a different travel experience.
Spring
Spring in Austria brings mild temperatures and blooming landscapes. It’s a great time for city trips, hiking, cycling and relaxing walks - all of this with fewer crowds than summer. Keep in mind, that weather can still be unpredictable (temperatures between 5°C and 25°C), especially in the mountains, so layering is essential.
Summer
Summer in Austria is warm and sunny, making it the perfect season for outdoor adventures like swimming, hiking, cycling as well as for road trips or enjoying the dinner or the cocktail in a cozy outdoor restaurant/bar. Long daylight hours and warm summer nights create a relaxed “European summer” atmosphere.
Autumn
Autumn in Austria brings colorful forests, crisp air, and cozy mountain vibes. It’s one of the best seasons for wellness retreats, wine regions and relaxed outdoor walk. The landscapes are especially beautiful in alpine regions, while cities become calmer and more atmospheric after the busy summer months.
Winter
Winter transforms Austria into a snowy alpine destination famous for skiing, snowboarding, cross skiing and Christmas markets. Mountain villages feel especially magical during this season, with cozy huts, festive lights, and snow-covered peaks. Even if you don’t ski, winter is perfect for spa hotels, winter hiking, and experiencing Austrian holiday traditions.
