St. Peter's Basilica is an iconic Italian Renaissance and Baroque-style church located in Vatican City. Its awe-inspiring architecture makes it a top tourist destination for anyone visiting Rome! The Papal Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican was initially planned by Pope Nicholas V but finally completed some 120 years later under pope Julius II. It is one of Italy's most well-known works of art, boasting a massive dome that stands tall over Rome. The interior of the building is highly decorative, with numerous artworks scattered across its walls, including Michelangelo's famous Pietà at the entrance. Visitors to the basilica can also visit St. Peter's tomb, believed to be buried beneath the altar.
