Located near South Lake Tahoe, Fallen Leaf Lake is a beautiful alpine lake with magnificent views of snow-capped Mount Tallac (arguably the best vantage point of Tallac). The short hike to the lake feels more like a pleasant walk, and while several trails lead to the shoreline, the main trailhead is near Fallen Leaf Lake Campground. It’s a great spot to visit year-round—known for its fall colors in autumn and an easy, scenic place for snowshoeing in the winter.
