The China Cove Trail is an easily accessible, flat 3-mile loop around Donner Memorial State Park, open year-round but especially magical in the winter. It’s one of the best spots in Truckee for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, with a gentle trail that’s perfect for beginners. Towering pine trees frame the path, creating stunning snowy scenery, and several smaller trails branch off the main loop to lead down to Donner Lake. The trailhead is located at the state park’s parking area, which requires a $10 parking fee.
