Located right off Highway 89, Valhalla Pier is one of the few piers in South Lake Tahoe that’s open to the public. It’s a great spot to catch the sunset, and if you’re an early riser, sunrise is even better. The pier juts out into Lake Tahoe, giving you unobstructed views of the lake and surrounding mountains, which makes it perfect for photos. There’s a small parking area right on Highway 89, so it’s easy to get to. Even if you miss the sunrise or sunset, it’s still worth checking out. You can also explore some local history at Valhalla — there’s a historical site with old cabins on the water nearby.
