Heavenly Mountain in South Lake Tahoe is one of the most iconic ski resorts in the area, but it’s way more than just skiing. The mountain offers over 4,800 vertical feet, with 97 runs across three peaks. The views from the slopes are incredible, with panoramic sights of Lake Tahoe, the Sierra Nevada, and the surrounding wilderness. Even if you don’t ski, you can ride the gondola up and check out the observation deck—it’s perfect for photos, and the Heavenly sign lookout gives you one of the best spots to see the lake from above.
After a day on the slopes, Heavenly Village at the base is a fun spot to grab a drink, enjoy some food, and soak in the apres-ski atmosphere. There's a handful of shops, restaurants, and bars, so it’s easy to spend a few hours just hanging out.
A few tips: the mountain can get crowded on weekends and holidays, so going midweek or early in the morning is best. Some of the runs can be tricky if you’re new, so stick to beginner and intermediate trails until you get your bearings.
