Historic Downtown Truckee is a small and charming part of town with a rustic, old-west feel. Established in the 1860s as a bustling railroad and logging hub, the area still holds onto much of its original character. The main strip along Donner Pass Road is lined with colorful historic buildings, one-of-a-kind shops, and plenty of local restaurants, cafés, and bars. A few fun spots I recommend checking out are Tourist Club (a local dive), Old Town Tap, and Coffeebar.

One of my favorite times to walk the main strip is Christmas — they go all out with decorations and a big tree, giving the whole area total Hallmark-movie vibes.
