Jen from Georgia Hikes

For one of the best views in the North Georgia mountains without an all-day commitment, you have to check out the hike to Preacher's Rock. The trail starts right from the Woody Gap parking area and follows the famous Appalachian Trail for about a mile to the summit. It's a steady, moderate climb, with the last quarter-mile being the steepest, but the panoramic view from the massive rock outcrop at the top is absolutely worth the effort. The whole round trip takes most folks about an hour to an hour and a half, making it a perfect way to experience the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
