The area of the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an Italian place absolutely worth seeing at least once in a lifetime!
New for 2025: Online Reservation Required for Toll Road Access!

ALTERNATIVE: Bus Shuttle 444
From 31 May to 12 October 2025, a shuttle bus runs from Toblach/Dobbiaco to the Auronzohütte hut as an alternative to the toll road.
Once you arrive at the parking lot, you'll have different hiking options. Stay on the CAI trail 104 trail, a very well-marked trail, easy to walk on, and almost entirely without excessive elevation gain, suitable for everyone. There are a few sections that are a bit steeper, but trust me, it will all be worth it in the end. I would recommend heading to the Dreizinnenhūtte since it will offer you the best views of the Three Peaks. Depending on your fitness level,l it will take you around 1,5 - 2 hours to reach the hut.
I think the Three Peaks look best at sunrise since you get the direct sunlight on the mountain for that lovely Alpenglow. You could either hike early in the morning (I've done this multiple times and even though it means to wake up super early, it was soo worth it) or the other option is to stay overnight in the Dreizinnenhūtte
Some other spots that are close to the Three Peaks are the Laghi dei Piani and the Valley of Altensteintal
Sunset can be very beautiful as well, but I would recommend looking into the Cadini di Misurina for sunset.
