Kanazawa Castle is a stunning spot to soak in some history and greenery. You can spot the castle from the roadside and it's even more impressive up close with the most beautifully maintained gardens surrounding it. We spent about an hour wandering around the castle. Home of the Maeda Clan, they ruled the Kaga Domain during the Edo period so there's plenty of history here. It has fortified walls and was built for defense and as a symbol of power. Entry is free. But if you want to enter the nearby Gojukken Nagaya Storehouse and Turrets, there is a small admission fee of 320 yen for adults and 100 yen for children under 18. This spot is also directly across the road from the famous Kenrokuen Garden. Check out our other pins for the exact location.
