Gōtokuji Temple is a hidden gem in Tokyo and a total must-see for cat lovers (or anyone looking for something a little bit quirky to be honest)!

Known as the birthplace of the maneki-neko (lucky cat), it’s home to hundreds of adorable cat figurines that make the perfect Instagram shot.

The temple grounds are peaceful and the story behind the lucky cats is super charming.

It’s free to wander, but bring a little cash if you want to buy your own maneki-neko to leave as an offering.

The temple is open from 6 AM to 5 PM, and you’ll need about 45 minutes to explore and snap those iconic pics!
