Fushimi Inari Taisha is one of Kyoto’s most iconic spots, famous for its endless rows of vibrant red torii gates that lead you up Mount Inari.

But if you're coming to Kyoto, this is one spot you've no doubt already got on your list.

It’s not just a photo op, there’s a spiritual energy here that’s hard to miss.

You’ll see fox statues along the way, which are considered messengers.

The deeper you go, the quieter it gets, and we highly recommend wandering further in for those stunning, crowd-free photo opportunities.

Entry is free, and the shrine is open 24/7, though early mornings or sunset are ideal for a peaceful visit.

Don’t forget to snap that classic shot under the gates!

TOP TIP: The walk to the top takes around 2-3 hours, but if you’re looking to escape the crowds and find that perfect shot, walk further in past the main shrine.
