One of my favorite spots in Amman, perfect for a morning walk or showing to friends visiting for the first time. Perched on the city’s highest hill, the Amman Citadel lets you literally walk through layers of history. Wander among the impressive columns of the Roman Temple of Hercules and explore the remnants of the grand Umayyad Palace, all while taking in incredible panoramic views of the city below. The site is sprawling with some uneven ground, so wear comfortable shoes and give yourself an hour to explore.
