The Cow opened in 1977, transforming a rustic old cow byre into a pizza and pasta haven, and it’s been going strong ever since, making it a true Queenstown institution. Tucked away down a little laneway, it feels like you’ve stumbled across a hidden gem. The rustic, cabin like interior, with its low lighting and roaring fire, makes it feel warm and inviting, especially on a chilly night. We ordered the bolognese pizza, which honestly was delicious. The crust was perfectly crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside, and the rich, meaty sauce was packed with flavour. There’s something about the old school charm of The Cow that makes it stand out no frills, just hearty, delicious food done really well.
