Fiskars Village is one of my favorite day trips.
This charming former ironworks village has been transformed into a creative hub full of artisan workshops, design boutiques, galleries, cafés, and beautiful old red buildings. A small river runs through the village, and everything is walkable, making it an easy and relaxing place to explore.
Fiskars is known for its strong design and craft culture, and many artists and makers still live and work here. You can pop into studios, browse small shops, and enjoy the calm, countryside atmosphere.
Plan to spend 3–5 hours here, or even a full day if you want to combine it with nature walks. The village is especially lovely in summer and early autumn, but it’s also beautiful year-round if you enjoy a quieter, slower pace.
HOW TO GET THERE: Fiskars is easiest to reach by car (about 1.5 hours from Helsinki). You can also get there by public transport via Karjaa, followed by a short bus or taxi ride. If you’re visiting with your own car, I recommend combining Fiskars with a stop in Mathildedal Village, which is about 50 minutes away. It’s another charming old ironworks village with cafés, small shops, and beautiful nature, together they make a perfect day trip.
