If you’re looking for a beach escape near Turku, Saaronniemi Beach is it. One of my favorite summer spots!
WHEN TO GO: Arrive early on weekends if you want a quieter spot, or late afternoon for golden-hour photos by the sea.
WHAT TO BRING: Swimsuit, towel, and something to sit on as there is no sunbeds.
One of the best features is the public sauna right by the beach. For a small fee, you can heat up and then jump straight into the sea, the ultimate Finnish summer ritual.
If you’re visiting with an RV, there’s a camping area right next to the beach. From there, you can also enjoy a mini golf course and a café, making it a fun spot for the whole family or a longer day out.
LOCAL TIP: If you’re after a bit of peace and quiet, skip the main beach and head out to the rocks. There are a couple of different spots along the shore where you can find your own little private corner to relax, sunbathe, or just enjoy the view.
You can also visit during the winter months. The winter sunsets are gorgeous and the sauna plus ice swimming spot are open.
