Uusikaupunki is a small coastal town with a laid-back, seaside charm. Think colorful wooden houses, peaceful streets, and a vibe that makes you want to slow down and explore.

I’ve been coming here for almost 20 years every summer, and it still feels as cozy and beautiful every time. The best time to visit is definitely spring through early autumn for sunny walks and café patios.

WHAT TO DO:

  • Harbour area: This is where you’ll find the best food spots — perfect for lunch with a view of the water.

  • Cafés: Cafe Aitta and Pakkahuoneen Vierassatama Café are local favorites. You’ll often see locals hanging out here.

  • Museums: Check out the Car Museum and the Bonk Museum for a quirky, fun dose of local history and art.

  • Wander the Old Town: Colorful wooden houses, small streets, and hidden courtyards make it ideal for photography or just a slow stroll.

  • Nature nearby: Small beaches and coastal paths make it easy to enjoy a bit of seaside nature.
