Directions

Liedon Vanhalinna is a medieval castle ruin located in Lieto, just outside Turku. It’s a peaceful historic site with old stone walls, green surroundings, and a lovely spot for anyone interested in Finnish history, photography, or a quiet countryside walk.

COST: Free to visit the grounds and explore the ruins. Guided tours (if offered by local organizations or during events) may have a small fee.

HOW TO GET THERE: If you're coming by car, it takes you about 20–25 minutes from Turku city center. There’s a small parking area near the site. There are limited bus connections; so check local bus schedules for the closest stop. Walking a short distance may be required from the stop.

LOCAL TIP: Don’t skip the hill hike! Standing at the top gives a beautiful view over Lieto and the surrounding countryside. The staircase to the top is pretty long so wear comfortable shoes.
