Turku's old library is a stunning historic building located in the heart of Turku city centre. Built in 1903, it’s an architectural gem, featuring beautiful wooden interiors, tall ceilings, and intricate details that make it feel like stepping back in time. The library is still fully functional, housing a collection of books, periodicals, and special collections, but even if you’re not here to read, the building itself is worth visiting.

Even if you’re not here to read books, step inside to admire the stunning interiors, it’s truly beautiful. And from the outside, the building is incredibly photogenic, so it’s definitely worth stopping by for a few photos.

LOCAL TIP: The library is best visited during weekdays when it’s quieter. Don’t forget to peek upstairs, the staircases and upper galleries provide a beautiful perspective of the main hall.

COST & ACCESS: Free to enter. Located right in the Turku center so it's easily reachable.
